[9:00am] Fast Track Science Summer Camp (Grades 3-5) Description: We've got a four day camp that helps students learn and explore math and science while manipulating and racing remote control cars!! Fort Hays State University's Fast Track Science experience is packed with extreme remote-control racing action. Students analyze data to make fast cars even faster! They participate in team-based driving challenges that demand the real process of science using the real application of math. Camps build teamwork and increase ability to perform math and science. Highway 36, from 10:45-11:45 a.m. in Smith Center. All are welcome to attend! [1:00pm] Hour of Power Description: This will be a monthly “hour of power” to help bring our country back to its founding principles as one nation under God. Everyone is welcome to attend. The prayer hour includes prayers for our president, congress, state and local leaders as well as every person in every state of the union. It also consists of readings and writings of our founding fathers, and music. [1:00pm] Young at Heart Drop In Bowling Description: This recreational bowling time is open to men & women over the age of 55. Participants may bowl on Wednesdays from 1:00 – 6:00 pm at Centennial Lanes. The fee for each game is $1.60, which includes shoes. This will be a great time to get out of the house on those hot summer days and have some fun bowling with your friends. [5:00pm] Hays Area Farmers Market Description: Parking is available. [6:30pm] Live music, Stephanie Bettman with Luke Halpin Description: Stephanie and Luke will perform in the main floor Gallery at 6:30pm on Wednesday, June 16th. Together these two musicians create original folk/bluegrass/Americana music in their uplifting, energetic shows. Their songs range from up-tempo bluegrass to jazzy acoustic pop to heart-wrenching ballads, with a focus on memorable lyrics, stunning musicianship, and beautiful vocal harmonies. Stephanie is a full-fledged “Triple Threat” - her superb writing, singing, and fiddling skills have earned her high accolades, including the Grand Prize in the 2008 SoCal Live Acoustic Music Competition, and being named one of Folk Works 2008 Top 10 LA female singer/songwriters. Luke is equally adept on fiddle, guitar, and mandolin, and contributes his own original works in addition to his instrumental expertise. [8:00pm] Shape Then Shift Description: Shape then Shift is the latest musical experiment from Fargo musician Michael Weiler. Known for his previous work in the with other musicians in the Fargo and Minneapolis area, Michael's latest indie pop group is constantly changing members to keep the sounds fresh and the songs new not only for fans but for the group itself. Their latest self-titled disc is a soft pop creation from both Michael and Darren Jackson from Twin Cities bands Kid Dakota and The Hopefuls. Though their live shows do not always resemble the performances on the cd, their live shows are not to be missed.
